Two most common Blackjack Dealer Rules
All the dealer’s actions are strictly according to the casino blackjack dealer rules. Dealer does not make choice on his own. One of the most common blackjack dealer rules is that dealer hits on 16 or less and stands on 17 or more. However, according to the changes of the blackjack dealer rules in most of the casinos this one resulted into two new slightly different rules. Usually, the rule is clearly marked on the table that you are playing at.
- "Dealer stands on all 17s": This variation of the blackjack dealer rules is the most common one. Under this rule, the dealer must hit on any 16 or less and stand on any 17 or more. The Ace is always counted as 11 (unless the dealer goes over 21). For example, in case the dealer has an Ace and a 6 he would stand as it makes 17, although if he has an Ace and a 4, he would hit as it is only 15. Let’s imagine the next card is a 9, this makes his hand (Ace, 4, 9) total 14, and he would hit againg to reach 17 or more.
- "Dealer hits soft 17": This variation is used in many casinos as a variation of the previous one. This rule is practically the same as the previous one, however, in case dealer has a soft hand totaling 17 (Ace and 6; Ace and 2 and 4) he would still hit and stand on soft 18 or higher. This rule increases the house advantage a bit.
Also, according to the blackjack dealer rules the Dealer does not split pairs or double instead he simply hits until he reaches 17 or higher.
